Charles T. Wilson founded RiskSmart Solutions® in 2000.

RiskSmart Solutions is dedicated to creating the best risk and insurance management advice for small and mid size companies.
We serve the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, and focus on improving organizational-financial effectiveness and avoiding surprises.

Charles brings his clients over 28 years of senior leadership assignments building start-ups and trouble-shooting mid size business units in the international insurance arena. From these experiences Charles offers a truly creative approach to preventing problems and implementing risk and crisis management solutions.

Charles has extensive underwriting, marketing and risk analysis experience gained through his training and positions with The Chubb Group and The St. Paul Companies. Assignments with Chubb in NYC, Brussels, Corporate Headquarters in NJ, and Montreal focused on leading and managing both start-up operations (Brussels) and full-blown small business units (125 staff, $70 million revenue).

Charles moved in 1994 to The St. Paul Companies as President and CEO of the Canadian company headquartered in Toronto. Here the focus was on creative problem solving, new strategic direction, multi-level teamwork, recruiting and developing senior technical talent and business leaders across Canada.

In 2000, Charles obtained his CRM professional designation in risk management from the Global Risk Management Institute.

He graduated from Colgate University with a BA, and Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (Bologna, Italy and Washington, D.C.) with a Masters degree in International Relations. Charles began his insurance career with Chubb & Son Inc. in New York.

Other interests and activities have included leadership and training positions in the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons (Charles obtained the Advanced Pilot designation and is a past Commander), fund raising leadership and organization with McGill University (past Chair of McGill Associates), and an intensive 4-week Executive Management Program at Yale School of Executive Management in 1988.

Charles is a Board member of the Northern California chapter of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC USA) and holds the Registered Professional Liability designation from the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS). He is fluent in French and has conversational ability in Italian.
